The former Agent Scully, who lives in London now and is expecting her third child, loves Barack Obama and.. Edith Piaf.
Télé Loisirs: Could you live in France?
GA: I already feel like I live in France since I decided to live in Europe. In London, it's a bit as if I were in Paris. When I go to your capital, I always feel a bit at home. I don't know why but I really feel good when I'm in France.
TL: If you had to reincarnate as a French woman, who would choose?
Definitely Edith Piaf. She's a real monument, a lady, a true one. Because of her talent and her out of the common personality. She was an artist, a real and big artist. A star, like we say in Hollywood. An authentic star.
TL: Would you have been able to have a career in France?
I would have loved to. In fact, if I moved back to London, it's also because I'd really love to work with European producers and directors. Like I told you, now that I live in England, I feel a bit at home in all the countries of Europe. So I hope that the French will knock on my door.
TL: Who is the president of the French Republic?
Sarkozy!
TL: According to you, how to the French perceive you? What is the image they have of you?
The premiere of XF2 doesn't make things any better, but, I don't know why, the French seem to have some trouble letting go of Agent Scully. It doesn't matter if I play in a stage play, a comedy or a thriller, the French will always ask me if I have already seen an alien!
TL: What do you think about when fans recognize you at the restaurant?
I don't think of anything anymore, and that's really the advantage of living in Europe. When I go to a restaurant, I don't worry about people at all. In London, for example, my fans respect me and I don't worry about what I'm saying, about my clothes or about I don't know what. I feel finally free, the opposite of the life that I led when I was in Hollywood.
TL: What was the last movie that made you cry?
Das Leben der Anderen. I found this film, about the monitoring by the secret police in East Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall deeply moving.
TL: What is your biggest flaw?
I sometimes regret not being more ambitious or, at least, not knowing how to sell myself. During all the period of time following the end of the X-Files series, I refused to have a press attaché. I've only decide to hire one this year, because of the movie premiere.
TL: What is the quality you're the most proud of?
I think I'm pretty open-minded. I try to explore different directions in no matter what field: religion, politics, social issues, my profession...
TL: What would you like people to say about you when you won't be around anymore?
That during all my life, I remained consistent in my convictions and my opinions.
TL: What could make you want to move back to America?
Frankly, if Barack Obama becomes the new president of the United States, I could seriously consider moving back to America.
