MTV’s “True Life” series is looking for...
I posted this one Haven >>> Okay, I'm not to sure about this but I saw it and thought it could work out for X-Files fans, too. So...I'm a Star Wars geek and I read The Official Star Wars Blog everyday :tongue2: On Thursday, this entry was posted and it caught my eye. MTV Wants Fanboys (and girls) MTV’s “True Life” series is looking for die-hard fans of all franchises including Star Wars. Check put the info below for to find out more! Are you a young person who is obsessed with a certain book, comic or video game? MTV’s “True Life” is looking for young people who are die-hard fans of certain brands, characters, or fantasy series. Are you obsessed with comic books, anime, fantasy or manga? Do you like to dress up as your favorite character and attend conventions with other fans? Have you ever waited in line overnight for a book, movie or video game release? Do you have tattoos depicting your favorite brand or characters? Have you ever missed work, school, or other important events to engage in role-playing or cosplay? Are you misunderstood by your family or signifcant other because of it? Do you aspire to author your own graphic novel or comic series despite your parents’ disapproval? If you appear to be between the ages of 16 and 28, and want to share the story of your fantasy obsession, email MTV at fanboy@mtvn.com with all of the details. Be sure to include your name, location, phone number and a photo, if possible. Good luck and let us know if you audition for the show! It doesn't say anything about The X-Files in it but it is a franchise with a heavy fanbase and I figure that it could apply! Us philes are certainly "obsessed," and do indeed "dress up as your favorite character and attend conventions with other fans," and many "have tattoos depicting your favorite brand or characters." Plus there is so much merchandise we collect, including comics. I thought maybe one of you hardcore philes that has been going to all the XF events (Comic Con, etc.) and such might be interested in giving this a shot. I don't watch "True Life" so I really have no idea how it works but it sounds like a serious phile fits the criteria for this particular episode. It's a stretch but I thought I'd mention it!

It would be really funny to see a harc core phile on this!

ratgirl84- 09-06-2008

I have like 4 posters and the majority of a shelf on my bookcase devoted to XF, but I don't think my room looks hardcore phile enough for this show. In fact I have a shitload of Obi-Wan figures and a cardboard cutout (Ewan ), so I would just look all around geeky. Not to mention all the Garbage posters. They'd just be like "wow, you like alot of crap..." I do have all that artwork though, so that might push me over into the "a little too into it" category... I wanna se a phile on this show though! Represent people!

I'm obviously a huge fan, but I'm sure the person who represents Philes on this show s the kind of people who have XF magazine covers wallpapering their entire home and sleep on sheets with MnS on them. I'm not *that* kind of fan because I don't collect stuff. I have a teeny tiny collecting of XF stuff. I hope someone who made the Phile Pilgrimage to L.A represents at least.

Blergh. MTV.

They should talk to this chick. http://www.donnas.x-files.collection.dsl.pipex.com/

Yeha, I'm not quite obsessive enough to be awesome for that show

Blergh. MTV.

We've all seen those shows, so it's obvious the kind of person MTV wants to find; the most over the top, obsessive personality who will create the grea-*test*-('") amount of drama possible when relating to other cast members. I'd like to think the majority of X-Files fans are too intelligent to allow themselves to be exploited in that way...certain Havenites not withstanding. :P

I'd like to think the majority of X-Files fans are too intelligent to allow themselves to be exploited in that way...certain Havenites not withstanding. Do they relate to the other cast members? I didn't think it was that kind of show. I have never watched it so I did a little research and it seems that they follow each person individually. I don't think they all come together.

ratgirl84- 09-07-2008

No they don't have to deal with other cast members. They just take the camera crew around and tell them about their life.

Marita Covarrubias- 09-07-2008

Yeah. Okay. That's what I thought. I agree about them choosing over-the-top people, though. I am guessing they will pick stereotypical ones and make them look insane. They should talk to this chick. http://www.donnas.x-files.collection.dsl.pipex.com/ Donna is actually the first person I thought of when I read this :D
