OOOOOOOh... I cant believe i just stumbled across this now.. D'oh ITS AWESOME rat! I draw with coloured pencils but your crayon pics have inspired me to find a new medium!!! and, i remember i once drew Mulder's face and he was also blue!! Random I love arty people :faint:

ratgirl84- 01-12-2008

Thanks Linda!! Ohhh, do some XF crayon art, I wanna see!! We arty folk rule!!

ratgirl84- 01-31-2008

Okies, i've got two pics to share. Both are just a preview for now, it was hard to get a decent pic of the Mulder one with my phone, so the scan will look better when I am able to get to that (plus he needs a tiny bit of work)... so yeah. Mulder with colored pencil on black paper... um, i'm gonna guess its about 5in x 8in...: Scully, ink painting on watercolor paper 10x16. Just painted this one last night... took me... 2 hours maybe? I kinda lagged it... its now pinned on my wall! Woot I never put my art up in my room, but I like her :D Its awesome having a tv in my room now, I can just pause the dvds and paint :D

Impressive as always Rat. Colored pencil on black paper seems a very apt combination for capturing the overall atmosphere of the XF early years. Your signature reminds me of a comment a friend of mine made once. Four of us had just arrived in LA for the weekend and were walking out of LAX. I had never visited LA, but my friend had, so by way of advice(?)/warning(?), he looked at me as we walked out the front doors and simply said, "Let the freak show begin." So maybe you can verify what he meant, because aside from a couple brief encounters at Venice beach, I guess I didn't really see what he was referring to.

ratgirl84- 01-31-2008

Thanks WTT!! Yeah the black paper really seems to capture the tone of the show, it the same reason I did the ink painting, I needed to lay in alot of black really fast, and its much easier than sitting there wasting all your time just filling in black with a pencil, plus it just looks better... But yeah, using colored pencil on toned paper is my favorite ever. The quote is actually from Fear and Loathing when he's headed back to LA. Yeah, Venice is definately the place where you're going to encounter the weirdest people, except maybe Hollywood at night (especially at the tranny Del Taco on Santa Monica), but not as much... but we're not nearly as bad here as San Francisco or anything. Ummm... yeah, where I am is not nearly as bad... I mean, you get the occasional naked tranny screaming obcenities in the WalMart parking lot, a homeless guy peeing at passing cars, or a guy at the bus stop playing air piano, but not as often. In Venice though you get people like DJ Biscut wearing newspapers for socks, and if you try and touch them, he starts screaming "THEY'RE RADIOACTIVE!!!!"... but he sells the most awesome crackhead mix cds ever. Who else would think to mix Dead Kennedys with Britney Spears? Or the Marijuana Dumbledore... he was fucking crazy... Actually, my dad always tells this story about when he and my mom (and technically me... though I was but a wee fetus) were wating in line at the olympics in 84, and there was this man standing on a bucket using a cup as a loud speaker and screaming to everyone in line "I think better when i'm standing up!!!"... heehee, he's like "So there's all these people there visiting from all over the world for this, and they're all thinking 'so this is LA...'" lol. I love it here

Absolutely beautiful as always, Rat!!! Gorgeous. And you're right about all the dark and the b & w look fits with the atmosphere of the show. Perfection comes in the form of Ratgirl, our resident artiste! Thanks for sharing! And I can't wait to see Mulder in all his "scanned" glory!

Lisi24601- 01-31-2008

That is awesome Rat!!! Ooh that Mulder is just so keeyute!! Hehe... now I have even more to look forward to on the LA trip!! Well done! :highfive:

ratgirl84- 01-31-2008

Thanks girly-girls!! :tighthug: Oh, I forgot, the Mulder still is from "Home", and the Scully is from "Never Again". Haha, wanna see some really crazy people, we'll ride the bus. I used to keep a journal in high school about all the crazy people i'd see when I rode the bus everyday. But yeah, Venice, Venice is the place to go. Oh, and theres Harry Perry of course!! He wears a turban and rides around on rollerskates while playing electric guitar... and follows you around for money.

bugmouthga- 01-31-2008

LOL! I remember vacationing to L.A. with my family as a kid, and one time we went down the Hollywood Walk of Fame and there was some guy wandering around with a beer gut, holding up a sign that said, "World's First Pregnant Man". I tell ya, my sister and I were quite intrigued... :giggle:

x_phile- 01-31-2008

This is the first time I'm seeing these drawings, and I am completely blown away! What talent! I'm especially shocked that you were able to create those first ones with plain old crayons! Tooms is my favorite villian, so I'm crazy over that one ... but really, they're all amazing. Thanks for sharing them.

bugmouthga- 01-31-2008

Oh, I forgot, the Mulder still is from "Home", and the Scully is from "Never Again". You totally captured Mulder's trepidation, as well as some classic Scully angst! SQUEEEE!!!!!

ratgirl84- 01-31-2008

Thanks X_phile!! Tooms is the best, thats why I drew him :D Haha, thats awesome Bug!! Haha, Walk of Fame, that totally reminds me! I saw a guy peeing on John Travolta's star while saying "Grease lightning!!!", lol! Haha, and I have a picture of me passed out on Florence Henderson's star. I don't think I was really passed out, but I must have been really freakin drunk if I was willing to lay down on one of those stars... :P

bugmouthga- 01-31-2008

LOL!!!!! Oh, and that pic of you? Still got it? Tee hee! Now you have the distinction of being able to say you passed out on top of Mrs. Brady! (Lot's of people had a real thing for her, I hear! ;))
