Gillian is absolutely wonderful in TXF: I Want to Believe
This is a thread to discuss/praise Gillian's performance in "The X-Files: I Want to Believe" (have you heard of this film?) Whatever you may feel about this film, like/dislike it, love/hate it, don't like directing, don't like the story, don't like this or that or don't like some of the lines that the script had Scully say... I'm sure most, if not all, can agree that her ACTING was really, really good. I've only seen the movie once but I plan to go again. Her performance struck me even the first time, though. So while I think my opinion about other things will be different upon my second viewing, GA's fantastic acting was something I noticed/felt the first time around :D

I agree, Miss Rita. :D I truly love the effort that the entire cast and crew put into this movie, as well as the series during its long run. But my favorite character (as well as actor) has always been Scully/GA. She was remarkable, and I really love how her personal faith journey was featured so prominently right along with the actual X-File. I know that many people have had a hard time with the change in the Scully character, particularly over the last 2 years of the show and in this new film, too. They feel that her character changed too radically, and that she is now too sad and/or weepy. Knowing all her character has gone through and that she had a child, it always made complete sense to me, and whether it was the work of the writers, GA's own experiences as a mother or a combination of both, the Scully progression comes off to me as quite natural and realistic. She truly is a gifted actor, and the wannabe actor that still lives in me looks up to her talents with admiration and I salute her! Kudos, GA!!!

I agree bugmouthga. Scully seems more agitated and more depressed in TXF: ITWB and seasons 8 & 9. In seasons 6 and 7 she seemed happy and upbeat, but that's not the case anymore. As for GA's performance, she did great, just as I thought she would. :)

I saw the movie twice and tommorow I go again :) tell me I'm crazy ??? Malwina, you're crazy. Lol, I actually just got back from my 4th veiwing. 1st at the premiere, 2nd at the midnight showing, 3rd with my gramma yesterday, and 4th with my mom and her boyfriend today... Me and my gramma almost went to see it a second time yesterday, but we went into Hellboy and I promptly fell asleep. I guess the week just caught up with me. Seriously though, GA is fucking fantastic in this!!

Agreed. GA is able to infer so many layers into her characters in such subtle ways, it's no wonder she's received the awards that she has. She just continues to impress.

GA's interpretation of Scully was amazing... pitch perfect, I'd say.
